More Than Meets the Eye
About Me
Hi! I am a UX/UI designer and former educator. My passions for creating equity and helping others not only led me to a career in education but also led me into the world of UX Design. I have an excitement for solving problems and creating visually and functionally powerful products that make life easier for others. I am particularly drawn to organizations committed to developing ethical products that seek to make a positive impact on our world and society.

My 5 years of experience as an educator seamlessly translates into UX design, blending skills in effective communication (among colleagues, supervisors, subject matter experts, and parents), empathetic understanding of the needs of others, designing solutions for those needs, data analysis, human-centered design, and information architecture.
As an educator these skills were developed and utilized as I met student learning growth goals for over 96% of over 150 students. As a UX designer these skills have been further utilized as I have worked with the owner of The Hair Colorist to develop a responsive website for her business that has increased traffic to their website by 100%.
When I am not designing, I enjoy kayaking, skiing, sipping a latte at a coffee shop with friends, trying new foods, & reading!
My Journey to UX
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I implemented various educational technology products into my instruction. I witnessed firsthand the profound impact that well-designed user experiences can have on users. A vivid memory is transitioning from manually inputting individual emails and passwords for a class of 25 kindergarteners during state assessments, to simply providing each student with a QR code for effortless account access. The relief and efficiency this feature provided to both students and teachers were realized immediately as a process that normally took up to 30 minutes suddenly took less than 10 minutes.

This experience sparked my curiosity about the broader scope of user experience design and it's potential to make an impact. I completed DesignLab's UX Academy, an immersive 500+ hour UX/UI design program with weekly mentorship from an industry professional. Through this program I have honed crucial skills in the UX design process including the following: user research, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, UI design, usability testing, color theory, typography, human-centered design principles, and design thinking. I have also learned that UX isn't just about the skills mentioned above, it is also about creating new ways of thinking and doing.
As I have immersed myself in the field, I have come to treasure the immense privilege that designers have to develop user experiences that can help improve the lives of others. Since then I have continued to develop my skills in each part of the design process, and am thrilled to be a part of developing much needed solutions to the problems that others are faced with.
